Job Description

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer . This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $285,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. As the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA)’s Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer, you will lead our revenue-generating efforts and join us in our commitment to invest in tomorrow’s champions today.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and optimize revenue-generating operations and growth through various streams including ticket sales, sponsorships, multimedia rights, licensing, and merchandising.
  2. Directly supervise selected administrative areas, serve as a sport administrator, and lead departmental initiatives in revenue generation, communications, marketing, sales and service, and resource allocation.
  3. Establish and maintain consistent and equitable policies for staff and coaches, and manage various administrative units of the department.
  4. Serve on the DIA executive team and work collaboratively with the Director of the DIA.
  5. Engage in strategic planning, market analysis, and the development of innovative revenue streams to support the financial health and growth of the department.
  6. Ensure that assigned UCLA sport program(s) remain consistently ranked among the top in the country.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Minimum of ten years of progressively increasing experience and responsibility within a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity, preferably in a large university or comparable program/environment.
  2. Deep understanding of the college sports landscape and revenue streams, including a proven track record of successful revenue growth and management.
  3. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of revenue generation, sales, marketing, or other related fields within the sports industry.
  4. Skill in financial analysis and budget management.
  5. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with issues and terminology relating to intercollegiate athletics.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills to express the mission and values of the university and the strategic plan of the University and DIA.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with External Affairs, DIA, campus leadership, colleagues, key internal and external stakeholders, volunteers, and other constituents.
  9. Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  10. Skill in the development and leadership of team approaches to goal accomplishment.
  11. Strong management and supervisory skills, including staff recruitment, retention, professional growth, training, and discipline.
  12. Strong strategic planning, analytical, and organizational skills to develop and implement creative, credible solutions, and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
  13. Knowledge of and willingness to comply with department, University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  14. Ability to travel as needed and work evening and weekend hours as required.
