The House Parent at Anthony's Villa is responsible for the day-to-day care, supervision, and nurturing of the residents within the group home. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual who can provide a safe and structured environment, promote the personal and social development of the youth, and ensure their well-being through consistent care and support. The House Parent will work closely with other team members to implement individualized care plans, facilitate daily activities, and model positive behaviors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Care : Provide direct care and supervision to residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and emotional needs are met at all times.
  • Daily Routine Management : Establish and maintain a consistent daily routine, including wake-up, meals, school preparation, homework, recreational activities, and bedtime.
  • Behavioral Guidance : Implement behavior management strategies as outlined in individual care plans, providing positive reinforcement and redirection as needed.
  • Life Skills Development : Teach and model essential life skills such as personal hygiene, housekeeping, and social interaction.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate and timely records of residents' activities, progress, and any incidents, in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with the clinical team, including counselors, therapists, and other support staff, to implement individualized care plans and provide input on the progress of each resident.
  • Crisis Intervention : Respond to and manage crises or emergencies in accordance with organizational protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
  • Communication : Maintain open and effective communication with residents, staff, and external stakeholders, including family members and service providers.
  • Household Management : Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the group home, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Training and Development : Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in child care and residential services.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience : Previous experience working with children or youth in a residential setting is highly desirable.
  • Skills : Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; patience, empathy, and a genuine concern for the well-being of children and youth.
  • Certifications : CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications in child care or crisis intervention are a plus.
  • Other Requirements : Ability to pass a background check and drug screening; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands : The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. The House Parent must be able to engage in recreational activities with residents and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Work Environment : The House Parent will work in a residential group home setting, which may involve exposure to challenging behaviors and emotionally charged situations. The environment is dynamic and requires flexibility and adaptability.
