If you are looking for dynamic learning opportunities we invite you to join our surgical services team as an LPN anesthesia tech. Our Operating Room Suite consists of 16 procedure rooms providing the capacity to perform 50-60 cases on a daily basis.
We perform approximately 18,000 surgical procedures annually. Recently upgraded, we provide an aseptic environment and state of the art instrumentation. The operating room is available to schedule inpatient and outpatient for major, minor and emergency surgical procedures 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This position completes assistive tasks for the anesthesia personnel during all phases of procedural care, in support of the Main Operating Room, Endoscopy, and CVMP department(s).
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed health care provider who provides nursing care under the direction of an RN, physician, or other authorized health care provider. There is no independent component to the LPN role.

What You Will Do Under the direction and supervision of providers and registered nurses in the procedural settings:
- Complete preparatory anesthesia related assigned tasks, in order to commence procedures
- Peripheral intravenous (PIV) access initiation
- Set up equipment and solutions for infusion through venous access device(s)
- Complete blood draws via peripheral venous access
- Manage and administer medications within the New York state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) scope of practice
- Preparation of anesthesia related sterile field(s)
- Complete procedural room turn over tasks related to anesthesia supplies and equipment. Proper cleaning of medical devices per AAMI standards and environment per DOH/OSHA standards
- Maintain anesthesia equipment within the service
- Maintain anesthesia stock and inventory, completes supply ordering processes.
- Collaborative team approach: with interdisciplinary team of registered nurses, medical social work, care managers, nutrition, Rehab services, spiritual care and pharmacy.
Responsibilities - Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
- The Nurse Practice Act defines the practice of a LPN as "performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with the commissioner's regulations."
- Utilizing the Nursing Process is involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification And Licensure - Graduation from an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
- Maintains current BLS/CPR.
- Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
Work Environment And Hazards - Clinical setting. Exposure Class I
Physical Demands - Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Pay Range: $24.50 - $31.45
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
