POSITION: Solar Operations Manager

Founded in 2014, DWS Energy is a rapidly expanding, multi-disciplinary electrical construction company focused on commercial and utility-scale solar and battery storage (new construction and operations & maintenance), building controls wiring, and electrical pre-fabrication solutions in our UL-508A certified panel shop. The organization has expanded its service offerings throughout its tenure and continues to grow at an accelerated rate.

 

OVERVIEW:

The Solar Operations Manager role is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of projects from inception to completion, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar energy systems, project management, and team leadership.

 

 

DUTIES: The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager may include but is not limited to:

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of commercial solar installation projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage and mentor a project team and subcontractors to ensure effective collaboration and optimal performance.
  • Coordinate the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and system performance.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations to protect the well-being of employees, clients, and the public throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring overall satisfaction with project deliverables.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and profitability, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
  • Evaluate installer’s progress reports with an eye toward managing project risks.
  • Coordinate and manage solar installers, conduct project meetings, and provide weekly progress reports to clients.
  • Work closely with Business Development team members providing recommendations on how to enhance and improve building and/or site configuration.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes and customer value.
  • Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards, ensuring full compliance with applicable requirements at all times.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports, documentation, and performance metrics for internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory authorities as needed.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The following are requested skills and qualifications:

  • Energy industry experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in solar energy project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Ability to travel 25% with overnight trips to jobsites across Texas.
  • Demonstrated success in the Project Management function of a construction firm.
  • Success developing cost to completes, costing and pricing Change Orders, and maximizing profits.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Thorough understanding of solar energy systems, including design principles, installation techniques, and equipment specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools for planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and industry best practices for construction and renewable energy projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation are a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • OSHA 30 required. (Must be completed within 6 months)

REQUIREMENTS: The following are physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials.
  • Must be able to do prolonged periods of sitting at desks, stooping, kneeling, bending
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather on job sites.
  • Ability to walk job sites for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift at least 35 lbs. solo and 50 lbs. in tandem lifts.
